Lodge Haus Hohenstein
Our lodge is located in the middle of the beautiful Sauerland, surrounded by many hills and forests: Haus Hohenstein an der Dormecke.
You can immediately taste the peace and nature of Sauerland around the lodge, a babbling mountain stream flows through our large garden and
you can walk straight into the vast woods on three sides.
Hear the birds sing, listen to the rushing water and look for the squirrels, this is really relaxing!
The lodge was built with high-quality natural materials and has been lovingly restored in recent years. It has 7 sunny, spacious and comfortable apartments and a group accommodation. Each apartment is located on the south and has a beautiful view of the large garden and the surrounding forests.
The garden and the stream
Our large sunny garden extends around the lodge, culminating in our own mountain stream where deer and squirrels like to come and have a look. The garden is surrounded by beautiful forests with beautiful flowery forest edges, from the garden you can walk straight into the forest! Two large terraces with seating have been laid out in the garden, both on the banks of the mountain stream. On one of the terraces is a large barbecue, which can be used for a small fee.

The garden is also a true paradise for children, with various play equipment such as a sandbox, climbing poles, swing and diving rack. More exciting is to climb the slope via a climbing rope or net and then zoom off the slide back into the garden! But the biggest attraction remains our stream, where you can cool off in the summer and children can have fun for hours building dams.

The lodge is in a very quiet location, at the end of a dead end street. There is ample parking space here and because there is no traffic, children can also play here.
The surrounding area: Elpetal
Our lodge is hidden deep in the green and serene Elpetal.
If you drive into the Elpetal from the busy main road to Winterberg, you will immediately find peace: no traffic jams but a lovely winding road along a wide stream through almost endless forests and meadows.
At the end of the valley is the small village of Elpe with its many half-timbered houses. Here you will find a lovely bakery/café where breakfast can be enjoyed every morning, but you can also get fresh bread rolls and pastries.

The lodge is located on the edge of the village, from where you can walk or cycle into the vast forests. Various signposted hiking trails through the area start directly from the lodge, which lead you past breathtaking views, deep forests, fast-flowing streams and even the largest waterfall in Sauerland. Along the way you can often easily spot game such as deer, squirrels, wild boars or birds of prey, a unique experience!
Within
In our lodge there are 7 luxurious and spacious apartments and a common group room.

Maps of the area are displayed in the central hall and you will also find various brochures of the attractions in the area.

In the basement is a table football game, a washing machine and dryer
and there is room to store ski equipment or mountain bikes.
​
On the top floor we have a cupboard with various board games, puzzles, books and DVDs that are for everyone
guests are free to use.

In addition, there are outdoor toys such as sleds, scooters, badminton rackets, etc., which are free to use.
Apartments
The lodge has 7 spacious, bright and luxurious apartments.

All apartments have a spacious living room with open kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, stove, oven, kettle, etc.
Pans, crockery, cutlery etc. is of course present

Dining area and sitting area with flat screen TV and DVD player.
Spacious south-facing balcony or terrace with a view over the garden.

Luxurious bathroom with walk-in shower, toilet and sink.

One or two bedrooms with two beds,
in the living room is a very comfortable double bed,
which can be easily folded away in the cupboard during the day.
